What is #CRONKEURO?

Get ready for a European adventure of a lifetime that offers media education coupled with rich cultural experience! We’ll travel to three of Europe’s media capitals—London, Berlin and Istanbul—within three weeks. You’ll meet new friends and become a foreign correspondent, documenting the global impact of new media technologies as they permanently change communication within and between cultures.

We’ll go inside more than a dozen global news and media organizations to learn about how they handle strategic communication and news coverage in this new social media landscape. Visits include the BBC, The Guardian and The Economist Magazine in London and Bloomberg and CNN in Paris, for exposure to the highest levels of journalism and public relations as well as local culture, for an experience unlike anything you’ll encounter in the United States.

Led by Cronkite Global Initiatives Director, Dr. Bill Silcock, this program offers a unique blend of hands-on reporting and strategic communication experience abroad and behind-the-scenes look at Europe’s—and the world’s—most influential media institutions.

Program Fee: $6,890

The program fee includes: ASU tuition for 6 credits, lodging (the group will stay in shared rooms at three-star hotels in Berlin and Istanbul and shared flats with kitchens in London), some group meals, group activities & cultural events, travel between London, Berlin, and Istanbul, local transportation passes, and health insurance.

The program fee does not include: ASU student fees, trans-Atlantic airfare, passport & visa fees, daily meals, independent travel and miscellaneous items.

Eligibility: At least a 2.0 GPA. This program is open to students from any discipline. It is open to undergraduates, graduate students and honors students.

When: Summer 2016 (exact dates TBD, but program abroad is for three weeks)

Application Deadline: Late March 2016, stay connected to our website for exact dates. Applications are due in March, but this program follows a rolling admissions application process (the window simply closes when all spots on the program are filled).
